Winter Beauty

This tutorial was written on January 9th 2009 by Heidi. This
tut is from my own imagination & any similarities are purely coincidental.
No Linking or copying anything and I do not allow my
tutorials to be translated.
Under no uncertain terms are you allowed to make money from
anything produced from this tut, this is against my TOU's
Supplies
I wrote this tut using PSP XI but any version will do.
A tube of choice. I am using the beautiful fairy artwork of
Renee Biertempfel
You can purchase a license from CILM
Please don't use the same tube unless you have your own
license to do so
Scrap paper, frame and various elements (I used pieces from
my Winter Flakes mini kit) which can be found in the January issue of the AFX
Ezine.
There is also a full Winter Flakes kit located in my store here
Mask by Becky (included in the zip file here)
A nice winter image, can find plenty of free to use photos
on the net
Your choice of font ( I used Turbayne Running Hand)
Filter used is Eye Candy 4000 Gradient Glo
Let's begin =)
Open a new canvas 700x650
Open one of your scrap paper and resize it by 20% then copy
and paste it as a new layer
Go up to Layers, Load/Save Mask, Load Mask from Disk, and find
the mask you are using or the one I provided, with the following settings:

Go back up to layers and select merge group
Now duplicate your mask layer and then go up to effects,
texture effects, blinds and apply the settings as follows:
Width=2 Opacity=62 Horizontal and Light From Top both checked
and change the color to white
Open your frame, resize it and then copy and paste it as a
new layer
Go up to image, rotate, free rotate to the left 90*. Make
sure your frame is centered within the mask
Go back up to effects, texture effects, blinds and apply the
same settings as before
Now open up the winter photo you are using & resize it
then copy and paste it as a new layer making sure that the photo is under the
frame layer
Using you magic wand while still on your frame layer click
inside your frame and then go up to Selections, Modify, Expand and the number
of pixels should be set to 5 then click ok
Go back up to selections, select invert, click on your photo
layer and then press delete on your keyboard and then select none
Open up your snowflake, resize it, then copy and paste it as
a new layer then move it to the right upper side of your frame
Duplicate the snowflake and then move it to the left side of
your frame
Now we want to apply a glow to the snowflakes so go up to
filters then scroll thru the filters until you get to Eye Candy 4000 then slide
over to Gradient Glow and apply the following settings:

Open one of the ribbons, resize, and copy and paste it as a
new layer and move it under the snowflake layers (see my tag as a reference)
Duplicate your ribbon then go up to image, then mirror, then
move it back over to the other ribbon and place it next to the 1st ribbon
Then go up to layers and merge the 2 ribbon layers together
Duplicate your merged ribbon layers and then move it to the
other snowflake
Now open one of the star strings and using your selection
tool draw around one single strand (see the example) then copy and paste it as a
new image

Resize this strand and then copy and paste it as a new layer
under the snowflake but above the ribbons and move it so it sits in the middle
of the ribbons
Duplicate this strand layer and move it over to the other
side
You can now add a slight drop shadow to each of the ribbon
& stand layers if you would like
Open up the tube your have chosen and copy and paste it as a
new layer and move it to the left side of your frame
Apply a slight drop shadow again if you so wish
Now its time to add your name, I used Turbayne Running Hand
with a dark blue stroke and a light blue fill. Once your name is typed out
apply the following inner bevel

and now apply the following gradient glow

Under the color tab
change the color to white then click ok.
Add all of the appropriate copyright and licensing info,
merge all layers, resize if desired and save.
That's it you're all done!
